Fine dining at Hergetova Cihelna in Prague

July 13, 2016

What an amazing setting, with fabulous food that made for a sublime dinner! Hergetova Cihelna is a lively and stylish restaurant on the bank of Prague’s Vltava River, with spectacular, panoramic views of the beautiful, historic Charles Bridge. My sister and her friends introduced me to this popular spot and I couldn’t get enough of the sheer beauty of the location. The restaurant serves a variation of creative Czech and international favourites, gourmet salads, and the freshest seafood, served by friendly, attentive staff.

The food is excellent and reasonably priced. My sister ordered the Baked Pike with Green Lentil Ragout, Ricotta Gnocchi And Garlic Chive Sauce, which cost 495 Kč  and I had the Spinach and Rocket Salad, Sun-Dried Tomatoes, Olives, Parmesan and Warm Garlic Dressing at 265 Kč.

The portions are large enough to share and that is just what we did.  Our food presentation was very impressive; everything was well-seasoned and perfectly cooked. The garlic dressing on my salad was deliciously creamy and the combinations of ingredients were well balanced.

The wine list was awesome; I tried an Italian wine (Cantina Tramina Pinot Grigio), which was soft, delicate and refreshing. I enjoyed a glass or two with my meal, overlooking the most famous bridge in Prague and soaking up the romantic atmosphere of this wonderful place.

Hergetova Cihelna Restaurant is open daily from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 a.m. Make sure you request an outside table on the terrace, to take in the stunning riverside views while enjoying music from the bridge, accompanied by cocktails, delicious food and fine wines.

This was one of my most memorable dining experiences ever and I am sure to visit again upon my return to Prague.

I talk about going to Prague every year, but never make there. Need to try harder for next year. The restaurant looks great, I’ll look it up if I ever get there.

I am so impressed with the presentation of the food which your excellent photography skills amplify further. I like the look of the potatoes.

The location of the restaurant is impressive, not to mention romantic. That salad looked fresh and crisp. What a great starter. The interior of the restaurant is also beautiful. Europe is indeed lovely.
