Homemade paprika infused hummus

October 17, 2017

Homemade paprika infused hummus is a great addition to any meal. It taste amazing and it is so good for you.  The star ingredient for this beauty is chickpeas, which is a vegetarian source of protein. Chickpeas are filled with loads of fibre, which we all need for a healthy, digestive system. The more fibre something has the slower it’s released into your bloodstream, which means your blood sugar stays under control and you stay full and energised for longer

Not all store bought hummus are made with healthy ingredients. They are filled with weird additives like vegetable oil and even sugar, to name. Please do read the labels when purchasing shop bought hummus. However making hummus at home is much more cost effective and fun. You can get so creative!

They are so many ways to eat hummus. You can serve it as a healthy snack at parties. As a dip for  chopped up fruits and vegetables, a dressing for Buddha bowls and even a spread on bread. The list goes  on…an on!

I’m sure you will love this as it is;

& delicately spiced

To make this beauty you will need the following;

400g Chickpeas
2 garlic gloves
3 tablespoon, freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 teaspoon paprika
2 tablespoons olive oil
Chilli flakes
Salt and pepper

Place chickpeas in a blender or food processor. Add garlic, lemon juice and the paprika. Blend until very smooth. You may add some water (not more than 3 tablespoons) if the mixture is too thick. Add the olive oil, chilli flakes, salt and pepper and give the mixture 3 more pulses to mix all ingredients for a super creamy texture. Enjoy!

    I have been to a few middle eastern countries and Hummus used to be my staple for my stay. Loved the variations in such a simple dish. And now Paprika in Hummus. Gotta try this!

    Wow! this is new for me. I only encounter and happen to savour hummus and Pita if we intentionally visit a Middle Eastern Resto, good thing you’ve shared this recipe – my family can have a taste of it even at home

    Does it not make a difference by not adding tahini? I am always in two minds about making it without and tahini is SO expensive…
