I love looking up inspirational quotes and came across an anonymous one that has special meaning for me. I’d like to share it with you:

Never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life

Doesn’t that ring true for so many of us? We get so caught up in the minutiae of our humdrum, everyday lives that we start existing in survival mode – forgetting how to feel … how to live the rich, precious lives we’ve been gifted with…

As most of you know, I was away for a while visiting my sister, who stays in Prague in the Czech Republic. It was a big step for me to decide to close shop for a while and just to enjoy life with no deadlines, meetings and traffic jams; to simply enjoy life for what it is. My time in Prague showed me that this is possible. The city is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. How wonderful it was to walk along cobbled streets, lined with ancient castles and soaring Gothic churches, enjoying lots of delicious, traditional Bohemian foods and Czech beer. I am looking forward to sharing my experiences with you over the next few weeks.

I hope this encourages you to take some time out for you. There’s a famous Latin expression, Carpe Diem, which means “Seize the day” – so why not treat yourself to a movie night, a pampering session, a relaxing walk along the beach, or save up for a well-deserved vacation. It’s a great way to break away from the tedious daily routine of life, revitalise your energy, and be inspired to get your creative juices flowing. Lots of love and happiness

We all need some time to ourselves to recuperate and simply relax! I’m glad you were able to do that during this trip. It would be nice to spend it with people that you love too.

I remember that I felt the same while visiting Prague. The cobbled streets, the narrow alleys, the beautiful bridges. I remember how much I enjoyed having my lunch on the small islands from the river, just looking at the boats and sharing my food with a swan.

That is such a great quote. I’m trying to figure out what sort of career I’d like and feel like I’m being coerced into a career that earns a lot of money but isn’t really what I want to do. This post has made me step back and think a bit so thank you!

I think that seizing the day is a good ethos to have and we should all follow our dreams instead of doing what people want us to do.

Such a wonderful place to appreciate life. Totally true that life needs some pauses in terms of making a living so you can see deeper what it is really all about.

Hi, Prague looks amzing. Espcially when you have that view in front of you with no stress and pressures of life and you sit and enjoy a nice cool glass of drink. Can anything else be more relaxing???

Carpe Diem is my favorite quote since the Dead Poet Society and you brought back this feeling with your blog post! I try to live my life as enjoying every day and never being too busy to be not happy! 🙂

I totally agree with you ! It’s so easy to get caught into work so much we forget to live. I recently took a break a whole month. I did not travel even tho I would have loved going away. It was a much-needed rest, to be honest

Great philosophy to live by! It reminds me of my favorite Latin saying “memento vivere” (remember you live). The meaning is the same – we should LIVE every single moment of our lives, not waste it.

I try to take a weekend escape every month and unplug myself from the world! It not only helps in rejuvenating my body but prepares me from the coming challenges!
